Memorial Day 2011

I remember when I was very young, about six or seven years old I guess, (that would make it about 1963 or 1964) sitting in front of the television watching the atrocities of the Vietnam War. I would sit there and cry as I watched the bloodied and wounded bodies of our soldiers being airlifted out of the war zone. I was not too young to understand what was happening, people killing people, for it to hurt me so much in my heart that I cried. I believed, even then, that nothing could be so important for such things to be. I remembered the term that utilized by young men who resisted the war as being “conscientious objectors.” I thought to myself, even then, that was what I would do. My mama brought us up in a Christian church and we were taught not to fight with each other (my siblings) or even with anyone else that would bully us. We were to ignore them and walk away. I love all of God’s children everywhere, all the works that His hands have made, but Jesus Christ Himself not only gave us the instructions not to fight, He gave us the ultimate example by allowing His enemies to crucify Him. Jesus knew He was innocent of what He enemies’ accusations against Him. Barabbas believed warfare was the right thing to do to gain Israel’s freedom from Roman rule. He was freed from prison in Jesus’ stead. Barabbas was in prison for insurrection; rising up against and murdering Romans. Jesus allowed Himself to be crucified in love for us; to give us the example to follow and then to give us glorious eternal life with His resurrection. As we “celebrate” Memorial Day, first I would like, no, I am obligated, to salute the “Conscientious Objectors.” God bless you for obeying the Lord’s command and following the example He set for us. To all others who have and are serving in our military, as I stated before, I love all of God’s children; that is even those who live in other countries, especially the innocent ones. To the United States of America military forces, I, as does God, love you. I groan with a sad aching in my heart for you all because I know you have chosen to do what you believe is right. I cannot even imagine what the state of our country would be in right now if we had never decided to participate in warfare. I know that God’s will is being done. God bless you all and know that you are always in my prayers. I also pray for no more warfare. I am God’s love, and I, on this day, not only thank you but I ache for you. Please dear God, have ALL OF EARTH’S MILITARY troops not be engaged in warfare anymore. Please have YOUR LOVE fill all of our hearts for you and for each other, no matter what color, race, and place in which we live on this earth that YOU have created. In Jesus’ Holy name I humbly and sincerely pray and ask it. Thank you, Almighty Heavenly Father, for regarding the sincere supplication of your lowly and humbled servant and handmaiden. God bless us all, dear Lord, everyone. Amen.
